Cars and Coffee, without the coffee

A few weeks ago, my eyes skimmed the margins of Facebook and landed on a local Cars and Coffee group link. I joined it, and my tenuous attention span whisked me away, on to the next little crumb of Internet cake. This past Friday, a reminder popped up about an upcoming group meet, which I initially forgot about. I'm officially glad I remembered.

Saturday night I charged my batteries and packed up my camera gear, anticipating a few dozen or so unique cars to photograph the next morning. Imagine my surprise, then, when I drove to a Dunkin Donuts parking lot to find over two hundred diverse vehicles (some bikes and a freaking army truck showed up). Everyone was amiable, the cars were clean, and the meetup didn't devolve into a pissing-contest of revving engines and tire smoke. Prime examples of every car type were in attendance, from right-hand-drive imported Nissan Skylines to immaculate 1960's muscle cars. There were no snobby cliques, and everyone seemed to appreciate the variety. All boxes checked.

The trusty Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 was my primary piece of glass for the event. I took the Sigma 35mm f1.4 along but found it a little too wide given the sheer amount of cars and people around.

Cars and cameras are a potent mix. I enjoyed every step of this shoot, from initial prep to editing the last photo. I really should do this more often.

This is #32 of my 52 Week Project, which I began in January of 2015 and am continuing until it's done. It's easier to drop the "52" in my blog post titles!
